PCC-NSW - Year 2008 Presidential Awardee
This is to announce that the Philippine Community Council of New South Wales Inc. (PCC-NSW) is one of the 31 awardees in the 2008  Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organisations Overseas.

Specificially, PCC-NSW will be the recipient of Banaag Award,  one of the four award categories.  The awarding ceremony will be held on 9 December 2008 at Malacanan Palace, Manila. Current PCC-NSW President Rey Manoto and Secretary Elsa Collado , PCC-NSW Immediate Past President Ruben Amores and Ilocano Association of Australia President Cen Amores, among other present and past officers of PCC-NSW will be attending the awarding ceremony.

According to the Commission of Filipino Overseas website, Banaag Award is conferred to Filipino  individuals or associations for their contributions which have significantly benefited a sector or community in the Philippines, or advanced the cause of overseas Filipino communities.

Former PCC-NSW President Elected FiLCCA VP
According to the report from Tasmania,  Jimmy Lopez, the 2006 president of PCC-NSW is now the FiLCCA Vice President External.

PCC-NSW officers headed by President Rey Manoto was in Tasmania attending the 10th FiLCCA Conference. The PCC-NSW delegation was reported to be the largest contingent.

Beside the PCC-NSW President, Secretary Elsa Collado and Treasurer Serna Ladia was also present during the two-day conference.
 
PCC-NSW Organises Community Forum
The Philippine Community Council of New South Wales, Inc. (PCC-NSW, Inc) organises a community forum on "Emergencies/Disaster Response Management and 24-Hour Helpline on 14 September 2008 at Pinoy Sentral, Good Street, Granville, NSW.

In this connection, PCC-NSW invites all its affiliates to send two participants to the above-mentioned forum. Resource speakers from non-for-profit organisations are invited to share their respective experiences on disaster response and on crisis management.

PCC-NSW is considering establishing an Emergency Disaster Unit for our community, thus this forum is the first step towards implementing this proposed community project.
