The Philippine Community Council of New South Wales, Inc. (PCC-NSW, Inc) organises a community forum on "Emergencies/Disaster Response Management and 24-Hour Helpline on 14 September 2008 at Pinoy Sentral, Good Street, Granville, NSW.
In this connection, PCC-NSW invites all its affiliates to send two participants to the above-mentioned forum. Resource speakers from non-for-profit organisations are invited to share their respective experiences on disaster response and on crisis management.
PCC-NSW is considering establishing an Emergency Disaster Unit for our community, thus this forum is the first step towards implementing this proposed community project.

Banag-Banag Inc. (the
Bisayan - speaking association) is calling the generosity of all
Filipino-Australians for assistance to the victims of Cyclone Frank.
Wild winds and heavy rains hardest hit the Visayan region
last June. To date, there are reports of families in the Panay Region who are
still homeless. There is dire need for assistance to buy food, clothing and
medicines.
Through
the endorsement of the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney, Banag-Banag will
lead and account for the collection of the donations in NSW and coordinate the
distribution to worthwhile recipients of the worst affected areas in the Visayan
region.
A special Banag-BanagInc. Westpac Bank account has been
created for cash donations. BSB: 032-382 Account Number: 246925. Cash donations
will be received on or before 15th of September 2008. This deadline will assist for the planning
and distribution. Likewise, receipts of your cash donation will be mailed to
